Two Chinese public welfare organizations--Mental Illness & Social Watch and Shenzhen based Equity & Justice Initiative, published a report "Legal Analysis of China's Mental Health Care System."

The report says that China's Mental Health Care system has huge flaws and the situation is quite chaotic, it not only threatens public safety but also places anyone at risk of being admitted to mental hospitals, treating those who don't need treatment and backward laws allow people to commit their healthy relatives to mental institutions often after property disputes.

Shanghai Expo Stifles Media Critics---Chinese authorities denied accreditation to Apple Daily and raided the home of a well known government critic, moves that threaten a repeat of the human rights abuses that tarnished Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Authorities in Shanghai refused to respond to Apple Daily's multiple applications for media accreditation to cover the Expo which opened on 01 May and running until the end of October.

The refusal symbolized "a retreat of press freedom because Apple Daily, did get a permit to cover Beijing 2008 Olympic Games," Hong Kong Journalists Association Chairperson Mak Ying-ting told Human Rights Watch.

More Forced Evictions Ahead of Asian Games in China, Guangzhou

Victims of forced evictions in Beijing, Shanghai and other areas of China, expressed their grievance on World Habitat Day by attending protests walks and spoke about their experience of forced government evictions and demolitions.

Beijing Tiananmen Square was crowded with people furing the week long Chinese National Day holiday but some came instead to observe World Habitat Day designated by the United Nations for the first Monday in October

Former Beijing Human Rights Atty Ni Yulan, told Voice of America that she and many other people went to Tiananmen Square to stage a protest walk, which was closely monitored by the Police.

The purpose of our walk was to protest the illegal confiscation of and demolition of private property---As ordinary Chinese citizens, all we are asking for is shelter so that we may live a normal, simple and undisturbed life said Ni, who had been forced to vacate her home, during the lead up of Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

China Censors Retired CCP Officials Call For Freedom Of Speech & Press

Twenty Three former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are calling on the ruling regime to allow freedom of speech and press in the country but as soon as their letter was published, it was removed from Chinese websites.

The group of retired CCP elders, including the former publisher of the state run Peoples Daily, sent the open letter last week to Beijing---the letter urged the National Peoples Congress to uphold the Constitution and abolish censorship.

Taiwan Celebrates Its 99th Anniversary

On Sunday Taiwan celebrated the 99th Anniversary of its founding.

KMT President Ma Ying-jeou, gave his national day address, urging China to remove missiles pointing at the island and reaffirming his commitment of improving ties with his Marxist Comrades in Beijing.

Chinese Dissident Liu Xiao Bo Awarded Nobel Peace Prize

Chinese dissident Liu Xiao Bo has been awarded the Noble Peace Prize. Liu is currently serving an 11 year prison sentence in China and is the first Chinese national to win that prize.

Last Christmas, Liu was sentenced for "inciting subversion of the state" after he helped launch Charter 08 a 2008 manifesto calling for democratic reform of the one party state.

Chinese Parents Search For Missing Children

An often overlooked group among the swelling ranks of the Chinese Communist Party least wanted and the nations most disenfranchised are the parents of missing children.

Groups of parents took to the streets of Beijing with a long banner displaying photos of their missing children. On the 29 September, The Epoch Times interviewed several of them. "Nowadays there are only one child in every household. Losing a child is like the end of the world," said one parent. "We show these photos in Beijing to raise awareness so this will not happen to other families."

A donation of new shoes for children at Xiuwen County, Guiyang, was made by Dadili---Chen Ye & Dr. Kong Foot Care Ltd Hong Kong for school children in the mountainous villages in China, Guizhou Province.

A total of 405 pairs of shoes were distributed to children, 203 pairs of shoes went to Liu Tong Village School & Da She Central School in Xiuwen County---202 pairs of shoes went to Liu Chang Village School & Lu Wo Village Central School in Xifeng County

"Shoes have a price but love doesn't" said the children in Xiuwen and Xifeng counties, expressing their heartfelt thankfulness for the kind donation of shoes. With winter coming, these shoes will help these children to stay warm and dry.

These very generous donations were initiated by the Commission of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese & External Affairs and facilitated by Grace Charity Foundation organized in 1994 by a group of volunteers who participated in helping following a devastating flood in Southern China---Upon discovering the poor living conditions in the surrounding area, the volunteers established a school in Guangxi Province, in order to raise residents living standards.

Over 10 years from 1994 to 2004 thanks to the generous support of individuals, organizations and volunteers, almost 400 schools were established in remote areas of Guangxi, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Shannxi and Guizhou Provinces.

Starting in 1997 focus has turned to Guizhou, China's poorest province, helping to establish schools and subsidizing financially struggling students.

Americans are not hearing much about the anti-China protesters gathered in Tokyo on Saturday to demonstrate against what Japan has seen as China's overly aggressive response to the collision between a Chinese Captain's ship and Japanese Coast Guard in the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Island area on the 07 September---approximately 2,700 people joined the protests in Tokyo.

Worker Strikes Sweeping Across China Via The Epoch Times

Wang Chunyan, was a successful businesswoman from Dalian, Liaoning Province, in 1999 she began practicing Falun Gong, traditional Chinese spiritual discipline with Buddhist and Taoist principles. That same year on 22 July, the Chinese Communist Party launched a brutal attack on Falun Gong Practitioners to renounce their religious beliefs.

Currently incarcerated at Liaoning Women's Prision, Ms. Wang has developed severe hypertension and heart disease. Chinese authorities have prevented her family from applying for medical parole.
