China Mental Health Care Institutions Detaining People Not Mentally Ill

Two Chinese public welfare organizations--Mental Illness & Social Watch and Shenzhen based Equity & Justice Initiative, published a report "Legal Analysis of China's Mental Health Care System."

The report says that China's Mental Health Care system has huge flaws and the situation is quite chaotic, it not only threatens public safety but also places anyone at risk of being admitted to mental hospitals, treating those who don't need treatment and backward laws allow people to commit their healthy relatives to mental institutions often after property disputes.
