Interest in the once popular Cantonese Opera is fast declining largely in part because its modern audience finds it is difficult to appreciate the tradional culture.
In September, the cultural departments in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, obtained the central governments support in applying to the United Nations for listing the Cantonese Opera, on the Representatives List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, according to China News.com
