Iran Bans Gabriel Marquez Novel

The book Memories of my Melancholy Whores was translated into Persian and titled Memories of my Melancholy Sweethearts and the First Printing of 5,000 copies was sold out in three weeks.

The fascist Islamic Republic of Iran has banned a second printing of the Novel by the famed Latin American writer.

Religious monitors were angered by the book and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance which must approve all publications, refused to issue a permit to allow a second printing of the book.

Iran has tightened censorship of books, films and music since Holocaust Denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to power. Iran has likewise closed 24 Internet cafes in December and arrested 23 Internet users including 11 Women for Immoral Behavior the arrests coincided with the expansion of the official campaign launched last year against Women violating Iran's official Islamic dress code. Women were told they were forbidden to wear Western style clothing such as blue jeans or high boats which the Islamic Wizards have determined is inappropriate.
