Benjamin Claude Adams & Yuliya Mikhalovna Kalinina were arrested on November 29 after they allegedly entered into a sham marriage so she could become a U.S. Resident.
Adams of West Los Angeles and Kalinina a Russian national living in Marina Del Rey met one another courtesy of Craigslist.org In late 2005 and again in 2006 Kalinina posted 8 ads saying that she wanted to marry a U.S. Citizen solely to obtain her permanent residency, she offered her would be husband $15,000.00 in payments of $300.00 a month the ad said: Green Card Marriage/Will pay $300.00 month--Total $15,000.00 This is strictly platonic business offer, sex not involved, NOT required to live together.
Adams responded to the Craigslist.org ad in 2006 said federal prosecutors today during Kalinina's arraignment in U.S. District Court, Los Angeles. Adams arraignment is scheduled for December 24. If convicted of marriage fraud the pair could receive 5 years in prison, after which Kalinina would be deported.
