New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says that he is not a candidate for President but he is now running ads in both Iowa and New Hampshire---the ads cost $22,200 each and were paid for by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Inc. a group founded and financed by the Billionaire Mayor.Bloomberg is much more aligned with the Democrats and would draw Liberals and Moderates away from the other Democratic Presidential Campaigns according to Douglas Wilder, Mayor, Richmond, Virginia.
As an Independent Candidate, Democrats fear that he could siphon as much as 12% of the national vote away from their campaigns. When H. Ross Perot ran as a 3rd party candidate in 1992 he ended up with 19% of the vote.
