40 Jews Escape Enslavement Arrive In Israel

A group of 40 Jews fleeing Iran have arrived safely in Israel this evening, so far 200 Iranian Jews have fled their country in 2007---each family receives $10,000 to help them settle in from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews a charity which raises money from evangelical donors.

Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein the groups director says that he believes that Jews are in danger in Iran, "...President Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called the Holocaust a myth and has called for Israel's destruction...many of the Jews think this too will pass, meaning Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs, but our feeling is that it is a very similar situation of Jews in Germany in the 1930's by the time they realize its not going to blow over it will be too late."

Iran is home to an estimated 25,000 to 35,000 Jews---Tehran claims there are three functioning Synagogues but Jews that have fled Iran say that while they have prayed to see Jerusalem, telephone and mail service between Iran and Israel is forbidden. In 1979 Iran severed diplomatic relations with Israel and the Jewish community remains isolated from world Jewry reports concerning the conditions and treatment of Jews in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
