Johnny Grant Final USO Christmas Trip

Johnny Grant who traveled with Bob Hope on USO Tours visiting U.S. Troops says that his trip to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba will be his last as the 85 year old Entertainer whose career spans from radio to television says that he has been slowing down.

Johnny Grant in 1946 hosted the game show Stop the Clock and in 1950 was the day time host on KECA-TV which later became KABC between 1953-1954 Grant appeared on the NBC Television Network co-host for 7-8

Johnny Grant made his show business debut in 1939 as a local newscaster for his hometown radio station on WGBR in Goldsboro, NC throughout his life Johnny Grant remembers fondly his chats with Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Ty Cobb, Elanor Roosevelt, Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker and Admiral William F. Halsey.

Along with Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra, Johnny Grant co-hosted the first national telethon ever produced, a fund raiser to help send America's Olympic Athletes to Helsinki in 1952

Johnny Grant a retired Major General of the California National Guard continues to be recalled for special duties---in 1999 General Grant was recalled to temporary active duty to promote and produce events saluting California's National Guard on it's 150th Birthday.

During the opening of the Nixon Presidential Library Johnny Grant was honored to personally introduce 4 President's in attendance and 4 First Ladies Nixon, Ford, Bush and Reagan he likewise emceed the opening of the Reagan Presidential Library.
