An Iranian arrested by the United States Military in Iraq's Kurdish region has been involved in Intelligence gathering for Iran for more than a decade according to Major General Kevin Bergner.On September 20, U.S. Troops raided a Hotel and arrested Mahmudi Farhadi a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Quds Force. Iran immediately condemned the arrest calling it unwarranted claiming the Intelligence operative was merely a businessman. The U.S. Military insists that Farhadi is an Iranian Intelligence operative and the Officer in Charge of the Zafar Command.
The United States has repeatedly accused Iran of supporting Islamic insurgency in Iraq and with the arrest of Farhadi is proof of Iran's continued support of terrorists and espionage.
