Congress Gives Themselves a Pay Increase

Despite record low approval numbers for the 110th Congress at 14% making an all time low for any Congress since Gallup began rating the Congress in 1973 Members of Congress believe that they are deserving of another pay raise and quietly raised their own salaries $4,400.00 to almost $170,000.00 in Congressional action today.

On a vote of 244-181 the House of Representatives voted to kill a bill to block the Cost of Living Adjustment increase, which is automatically awarded to Members unless they vote to block it.
