China Wenchuan Conference Report On Catastrophic 8.0 Sichuan Earthquake

Via Associated Press

The publication is obscure and technical but the findings are simple: Schools in China, Sichuan, collapsed more easily than government buildings in last years catastrophic 8.0 earthquake because they were not built as well.

Chinese government official bow their heads in silence at the site of the catastrophic Beichuan Middle School in Sichuan Province.

On the 24 February, I wrote here that a young girl stands next to a
wall map that survived the devastating earthquake as she mourns and remembers her classmates whose lives were cut short. May God have mercy.

The assessment is at odds with official Chinese government statements which have attempted to shift the blame on the massive size of the May 12, 2008 earthquake.

This 653 page book has been quietly circulating since it was
published last October and may be the best authoritative assessment why thousands of classrooms collapsed while nearby structures remained firm.
