Warner Music Group ordered YouTube to pull all of their music videos off the popular online sharing site after contract negotiations broke down.
The order may affect hundred of thousands of video clips as it covers Warner Music recorded artists as well as the rights of songs published by its Warner/Chappell unit which includes many artists not signed to Warner Music labels.
YouTube is hugely popular with over 100 million viewers in the
United States alone in October. YouTube has existing agreements
with Vivendi's, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment
and EMI Records. Warner's move could see other companies demanding increases in fees.
