Global Quest To Help Yang Qiqi
Every week for the last 1.5 years, Yang Qiqi has to have a blood transfusion, in 2006 she was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia, in which her bone marrow cannot generate blood cells. The probability of contracting this fatal disease is one in a million.
Her parents have launched a worldwide appeal to help their young daughter who requires a bone marrow transplant as her only hope for survival.
Yang Quqi receiving a bone marrow transplant at the Peking University Hospital says to the doctors, "if you keep transfusing other blood into my body, my marrow will be too lazy to produce my own blood."
As her illness continues to progress, the transfusions have had no curative value, according to her physicians.
In order to cover the medical expenses for their child, Qiqi's parents have sold their home and have spent 700,000 Yuan or $102,100.00 USD for continuing treatment.
