Invasion of Georgia sends clear message to Beijing, is America a faithful ally ?
Now that Russia has got away with invading the Republic of Georgia without as much as a sniffle from the West, NATO or the United States, what prevents China from invading Taiwan ?
The invasion of Georgia demonstrates a vast chasm between John McCain and Barry Obama, on handling a foreign crisis.
John McCain was decisive, quick to condemn what he termed Russian aggression, "saying it was a matter of urgent moral and strategic importance to the United States...a clear violation of international
law," calling on Russia to "immediately and unconditionally cease operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgia."
Barry Obama's foreign policy adviser Susan Rice accused John McCain of potentially exacerbating the situation saying, "...John McCain shot from the hip, a very aggressive, very belligerent statement...he may or may not have complicated the situation."
The Bush Administration failed to deliver on its commitment to Georgia and "...the United States has been sounding increasingly ambivalent about its legal commitment to defend Taiwan..."
says Ian Williams, "...Washington's failure to defend its close friend in the Caucuses , may cause dangerous speculation on both sides of the Straits of Taiwan..."
The initial temperate call by both President Bush and Senator Obama for the Russians to pull back was embarrassing and sends a clear message to Beijing.
PRC currently has over a thousand missiles pointed at Taiwan, dozens of submarines and destroyers ready to cause havoc on American ally Taiwan. With nothing more than a sniffle, Beijing paid careful attention to the restrained response Washington gave as Putin's Army advanced into Georgia.
This week I wrote here that "Obama/Biden have rejected military
action to defend our ally Israel from radical Islamic Fascism, just as Democratic V.P. hopeful Joe Biden, rejected defending our ally Taiwan..."
Is the United States a dependable ally in defense of freedom and democracy ?
The tepid response by Senator Obama to the invasion of the Republic of Georgia and earlier comments by Senator Biden, demonstrates their clear lack of readiness to prosecute the war on Islamic Terrorism which the United States is engaged.
Senator McCain's resolve to defend our allies and prosecute the war shows that he is prepared from day one to assume the mantel of command. John McCain's foreign policy experience and military background, commands respect not only from our Men & Women in uniform but from adversaries and potential adversaries throughout the world.
Its time to demonstrate to the world that peace can only be maintained through strength, any sign of weakness sends a clear message to totalitarian's that the United States is not a faithful ally, lacking the tenacity to defend freedom and democracy.
The stronger the U.S. and Taiwan relationship becomes, the less likely China will misinterpret America's commitment to defend Taiwan. We must defend freedom and democracy and the right of our friends in Taiwan to determine their own destiny without coercion from China.
