Worlds Longest Bridge Opens In China

Hangzhou Bay Bridge has begun trial operations, the 36 Kilometer bridge (just over 22 miles) starts at Jiaxing City near Shanghai and ends at Cixi.

Nearly 2.45 million tons of concrete and 800,000 tons of steel were used to build the bridge, construction took 4 years, with a design life of 100 years. Its estimated that 40,000 cars will use the bridge daily with an estimated 100,000 by the year 2026
