One Chinese Mother's Pride & Joy

Xiao Zhong is so proud of her daughter doing rescue work in the quake areas of Sichuan, when the quake hit a Mother frantically searched for news, as her daughter had been working in Sichuan as a volunteer to support the development of border areas. Unable to reach her by phone, a desperate Mother sent her daughter a text message.

Waiting for her daughter's reply, she sat anxiously by reading a letter from her daughter that she had spent 2 days in writing, telling her Mother why it was necessary for her to go to the Sichuan countryside to work as a volunteer following college.

While reading her daughter's long letter, her Mother cried---nearly 10 months have passed since her daughter left to do volunteer work and while she had reported that her work and life had been pleasant, now a Mother waits for word about her daughters safety.

A text message arrives, "I'm on the street and fine. Don't worry." Overwhelmed with emotion a Mother's eyes fills with tears of thanksgiving. At 9:00 pm a call is received and a Mother is reassured that her daughter is safe when she finally hears her voice---she had been working all day making arrangements for the injured in a hospital but was exhausted and needed rest.

A Mother's daughter had transformed herself from a Student, Volunteer and now into a Rescuer---three important episodes in her young life. "I love you my daughter." One Mother's pride & joy.
