Chinese Children Sold Into Slavery Rescued

China has rescued scores of children working in Dongguan at a manufacturing base in Guangdong Province.

A young girl is seen here crying after being rescued by authorities where she had been forced into slavery to work. More than 1,000 children between the ages of 9 and 16 had been lured to work as cheap labor, being reported in China here and by Reuters India here "Chinese children sold like cabbages into slavery."

In the town of Shipai, Dongguan an investigation is underway, so far Police have rescued more than 100 children in the town and have arrested several people.

The children were earning between 2.5 Yuan and 3.8 Yuan per hour (about .35 cents to .51 cents USD) and were forced to work long hours.

Children were provided with a rice meal every two or three days as their only source of nutrition.
