Remembering Holocaust Survivor & Congressman Tom Lantos

Holocaust Survivor Congressman Tom Lantos, passed away today he was 80 years old. Pictured here with his daughter Annette, Executive Director, Congressional Human Rights Caucus.

Born in Hungary in 1928 he fought during the Second World War in the Resistance Movement. Following the War, he Immigrated to the United States in 1947 earning his Ph.D. in Economics at U.C. Berkeley in 1953 Congressman Lantos sometimes on floor speeches would comment that he was "...one of the few living members of Congress that fought Nazi Fascism."

On January 2, Congressman Lantos announced that he had Cancer and would not run for re-election but would finish out this term. The 14 term Congressman from San Mateo died today at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
