Chinese New Years 4706 begins on February 7 and in China this is a special time of family reunions as families gather at each others homes for joyful visits and shared meals.In the United States, many early immigrants arrived without families and discovered a sense of community through neighborhood associations. Many Chinese community organizations in the United States will host Chinese New Years Day celebrations and banquets.
Chinese New Years ends with the Lantern festival on the 15th of February, some of the Lanterns will be works of art, painted with birds, flowers and scenes from the past. People will hang their glowing lanterns at their homes and will carry them to an evening parade by the light of the moon. In many communities the highlight of the Lantern Festival will be the Dragon Dance and many communities have added parades and floats.
