Torah Dedication aboard USS Harry S. Truman

The U.S. Navy dedicated a Lithuanian Torah scroll which survived the Holocaust and now remains in Honor aboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) following a service conducted in the Hanger Bay on Sunday. The Torah will be on loan to the Nimitz Class Ship for the next 41 years according to Rep. Carl Levin (D-MI) who was the guest speaker at the dedication ceremony.

Not every Naval Ship is so fortunate to have a scroll aboard its vessel. The scroll which was dedicated Sunday replaced a previous scroll that was given to President Truman by the first President of Israel Chaim Weizmann.
