Lying and Bloggers and Tears Oh My

In a nation where we have acquiesced superfluous celebrities like Paris Hilton to occupy the national spotlight is it any wonder why truth is no longer relevant in either politics, business or in peoples everyday lives.
We have entered a new election cycle even though the Presidential Elections are more than a year away, we are being 'entertained by wanna be chief executives' feeding us a constant diet of rhetoric without substance.
Tabloid Flair appears to be everywhere in 2007 have we succumb to this as all we can expect for our future?
It could be simply that 'lying, gossiping and cheating and the rest of the evils that your Mother warned you about' have become acceptable behavior. What are the dangers of bad behavior? Could it really be that everyone does it, so what is the harm?
Gossiping and Lying are not gender exclusive, in a study by the 'Social Issue Research Center' it was reported, "...that Men gossip as much as Women but define it differently by calling it 'sharing of information' likewise Men talk about themselves with other Men while Women use technology such as cell phones as symbolic body guards..." to spread the news of the day, even if one has to make up parts to make a story complete.
Why do we permit ourselves to be duped into believing fiction for truth?
Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama, has mastered the craftiness of lying and according to some political polls it shows that he is running even with Hillary Clinton, the master architect of the Whitewater Fiasco, who was unable to remember the details of the Whitewater Land Development Charade when she was called to testify before Congress some years ago.
Senator Obama has claimed in campaign materials that his parents got together and that he was born as a result of the 'Selma March in 1965' , Mr. Obama has said, "...if it hadn't been for Selma, I wouldn't be here..." Senator Obama was born on the 04 August, 1961 in Hawaii--that would be 4 years before the Selma March.
Likewise Illinois Senator Obama has claimed, "...seeing a photograph in Life or Ebony Magazine at the age of 9 as my racial awakening...was an article and two accompanying photographs of an African-American man physically and emotionally scarred by all his efforts to lighten his skin." (At the request of the Chicago Tribune it was determined that no such photo exists in the archives of either publication, none of which what Senator Obama recalled)
At Punahou High School of Hawaii where "Barry Obama" (as he was known to his classmates) attended, some former classmates of Barry remembered that they were struggling with race and racism but Barry was absent from those discussions.
Politicians have become a 'mirror image of societies norms' and it could be that one expects nothing more of a wanna be chief executive, than one expects of themselves.
