A delegation from the Mennonite Central Committee "MCC" left today for Iran with the purpose of meeting Islamic religious leaders. David Cortright, Ph.D. of the University of Notre Dame and member of the peace delegation said, "...exchanges like this can be a way to promote peace..." Cortright is President of the Goshen, Indiana based "Fourth Freedom Forum" an organization that strives to find alternatives to war. Before departing on the trip to Iran, Cortright told the South Bend Tribune, "...Ahmadinejad is not in charge of Iran's nuclear policies...all of that is controlled by the Clerics, they run the country and they have not been confrontational."
