Tong Shiqiang, without regard to his own welfare, risked his life to save terrified 5-6 year olds following China's catastrophic May 12 Earthquake.
Subsequent to the earthquake, without regard to his own life, Tong Shiqiang dashed in and out of a damaged building just before it collapsed.
When the 8.0 earthquake struck, the 14 year old 6th grade student was having a Chinese class with 49 other students in Zhongwang Primary School in Quishan Village of Longnan, Gansu Province.
Behind their classroom, were 30 pre-school children who were having an afternoon nap in their own classroom.

The Chinese Government has launched a nationwide campaign to honor Child Hero's who acted bravely subsequent to the devastating earthquake. Tong Shiqiang, has been nominated to receive the award for his strength of character, risking his life to save others.
